Silk'n Home Laser Hair Removal System

Silk'n Laser Hair Removal Device has been approved by the United States Food and Drugs Administration Agency (FDA) as a laser hair removal device that has been proven to be effective for use in the privacy of your own home.

Launched in the UK in December 2008, this device, using a concept similar to the Tria hair removal laser, provides another cost-effective alternative to visiting clinics for laser hair removal.

Silk’n™, powered by the innovative and proprietary Home Pulsed Light™ technology (HPL™), is clinically tested and physician approved for safe, quick, and effective removal of hair by patients at home.

The process of laser and light-based hair removal is well known and established. It has been proven in clinical use around the world for over 15 years as a safe and effective way to achieve long-term hair removal.

Light-based hair removal is based on the theory of selective photothermolysis in which light energy is used to disable hair growth. The hair shaft needs to selectively absorb light energy and transform it into heat.

This selectivity is achieved when high optical energy that is delivered to the skin is mostly absorbed by hair shaft pigment, while the surrounding skin is actively cooled (by a cooling mechanism). Melanin is the pigment in the hair shaft that is responsible for the absorption of the light, which generates the heat that eventually disables hair growth. When hair growth is disabled, long-term hair removal is achieved.

Silk'n™ is a personal combined-energy based device for long-term hair removal. The Silk'n is based on Home Pulsed Light™ (HPL) technology which is a proprietary and patented technology of Home Skinovations Ltd. Hair removal with Home Skinovations' proprietary HPL technology is enhanced by a unique acoustic effect that improves the normal process of photoepilation, enabling long term epilation with low level of optical energy without the need to cool the skin.

Do not use Silk’n™ on naturally dark skin complexion or tanned skin!
The quantity of pigment in a particular person’s skin, which is manifested by their skin complexion, determines the degree of risk they are exposed to using Silk’n™.
Treating dark or recently tanned skin with Silkn™ can result in adverse effects such as burns, blisters, and skin colour changes (hyper- or hypo-pigmentation i.e. uneven areas of darker or lighter skin).

Silk'n™ works variably on blond, red and gray hairs
Silk’n™ effectively removes darker hair because its effect is directed at the hair pigment. Silk’n™may not be effective on light coloured hair because it contains smaller quantities of pigment.

However, in clinical trials it was observed that some of the lighter hair users did achieve satisfactory results with Silk'n.

Silk’n™ is not recommended for use on the face or neck.
Unlike body hair, most of women’s potential facial hair remains inactive and hidden, while only a fraction of it grows and surfaces. Exposing facial hair to the light pulses of Silk’n™ may remove apparent hair but simultaneously stimulate unwanted growth of hidden hair.

Using Silk’n™ to remove facial hair may cause serious eye injury and may stimulate facial hair growth.

The lamp cartridge life is limited to approximately 750 shots, which is enough shots to treat an entire body once, or achieve multiple treatments on the legs only, underarms only, and so on. The warning lights on the Silk’n™ control panel will let you know when you are close to or have reached the 750 shot limit.
