Not to be confused with "chemical peels" which are often seen on TV and are carried out under anaesthetic by a Cosmetic Dermatologist/Surgeon and leave the skin weeping and raw for several weeks, Glycolic Acid Skin Peels have the benefit of no (or minimal) "down time" or recovery period and are perfect for leaving your skin rejuvenated, with a softer, smoother texture. The NeoStrata peels are physician / medical only strength and should not be confused with weaker aesthetician peels available in some beauty salons.

The Glycolic Peel is derived from sugar cane and Alpha Hydroxy Acid has the smallest molecular structure of the AHA family and can therefore penetrate into the skin much more effectively than other Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's). It is not absorbed into the body and will not cause any systemic side effects. Glycolic acid loosens the "glue-like" attachments, or cellular cement, that is characteristic of many skin conditions such as ageing, acne, skin discolouration and coarse texture. After just a few weeks your skin will look brighter, clearer and dry skin will become more hydrated and smooth.

Glycolic acid helps reduce cell "build up" at the lower levels of the skin. This treatment will resurface the skin, giving a noticeably softer, smoother texture, slowing the ageing process and stimulating collagen and elastin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and help active acne.

We recommend a course of treatments at 2-4 weekly intervals, dependant upon your skin type and its condition, followed by maintenance treatments at longer intervals. All clients who wish to undergo glycolic peels must be on the NeoStrata "home care programme", and use NeoStrata AHA products for at least 2 weeks prior to the first peel and also during the course of the peels. At consultation we will assess your skin and we will decide which products will make up your home care programme to supplement the peels.
